A
Antigen antibody complex from strep infection affects the glomeruli causing inflammation & decrease GFR

Symptoms of it
A
- proteinuria
- hematuria (blood urine)
- oliguria
- dysuria
- presence of RBC, WBC, blood casts
- Edema (weight gain)
- low grade fever
- headache
- lethargic

Tx
A
-antibiotics
-diuretics
-rest & activity limit until
Hematuria subsides
-renal diet (reduce Na & protein & increase carbs/ calories)
-anti HTNsives

A
- I & o
- daily weights
- assess Edema
- monitor mental status
- dietary restrictions
- rest periods
- skin care

Define acute glomeeulonephritis & etiology
A
- immune related inflammation of the glomeruli (loss of albumin) characterized by hematuria, proteinuria, & decreased urine production & Edema
- affects both kidneys equally
- caused by antigen antibody complex from recent streptalococcal infection
