Which of the three cutaneous lupus are most strongly a/w SLE?
- Acute CLE
presentation of ACLE? (acute cutaneous lupus)
-transient malar erythema (butterfly rash) following sun exposure with classic sparing of the nasolabial folds (in contrast to dermatomyositis)
What can you see develop in the molar erythema of ACLE that can help differentiate from other facial rashes?
- malar rash sparing NL folds - lesions can develop poikiloderma, atrophy or dyspigmentation!!
Where else can rash of ACLE commonly present besides malar distribution?
V of chest, upper back, extremities, and backs of hands (sparing the knuckles!! vs dermatomyositis)
What is the histopath of ACLE?
vacuolar interface dermatitis, dermal edema, sparse perivascular lymphocytic infiltrate in upper dermis
