replacement of total BV in <24hrs
or 1/2 BV in 3 hours

A
G+S = do first, matches Abs
crossmatch = blood provided matches

urea

Tx for major haemorrhage?
A
3 units O- can give immediately
fluids
tranxemic acid (if trauma - 1g over 10 mins)

what is contained in a shock pack?
A
4 units RBC
4 units FFP
1 unit platelets

what complications (metabolic) can occur in major haemorrhage?
A
hypocalcaemia hyperkalaemia hypothermia acidosis hypomagnesium

Tx for hyperkalaemia?
A
10mls 10% calcium gluconate
glucose
salbutamol
insulin
