that they are safer because they are “natural” however they are more likely to have unqualified practitioners/manufacturers due to their lack of regulation and studies of effects. some CAM’s also work as their main ingredients have a similar pharmacological effect to conventional medicines.
since CAM are individualized and holistic they can not be tested

what is a modern theory on why acupuncture works
stimulation of muscles and nerves, release of opioids and serotonin and adenosine release may reduce pain.

addiction, allergies, pain, digestive disorders, menstrual problems, mental health.

what are contradictions of acupuncture
severe bleeding disorder, pregnancy, epilepsy, patients at risk of bacteriaemia, metal allergies, pacemakers

bacterial or viral infections, lung punctures, and nerve damage

massage involving applying pressure to feet hands and ears aims to restore Qİ energy
what are reported benefits of reflexology

reduced pain
better mood
these are all quantitative so there is no correlation. cannot be tested accurately
not considered effective but good as complementary medicine like massage.
