The council questioned them and told them that they gave them strict orders not to teach in Jesus’ name and they were so angry they wanted to kill Peter & John but Gamaliel advises the council to let them go because “For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.” Instead they were flogged and let go
