  1. Sons of liberty was formed-Samuel Adams, the used force to persuade others to resists Englishs control.
  2. Nine colonies attend stamp act congress to petition England to stop taxing colonies.
  3. Urged colonist to boycott British goods
  4. Burned effiges of tax collectors.
  5. Succeded in getting parliament to repeal the act, replacing it with the Declarity Act (Stated that England could pass any laws it wished in regard to the 13 colonies.
  6. Colonist where so happy about repeal they ignore seriousness of Declaroty act.

A

Stated that colonist had to provide food and shelter to british soldiers that were in the colonies to keep the colonist in line.

A

Delagates from all colonies but Georgia met in Philedalphia to discuss relations with Eengland.

A
  1. Sent a letter of grievances to king and parliament.
  2. Created groups to inforce boycotts, and encouraged colonies to form militas.
  3. Agreed to meet a year later if relations did not improve.

Lexington-Concord?

A

-British troops are sent from Boston to Concord to look for ammunition and weapons.
-Also looking for John Hancock, Samuel Adams, hoping to capture and punish them for the Boston Tea Party.
-Leads to the “Shot Heard Round The World.”

What happend after the “Shot” in Lexington-Concord?

A
  1. Colonial minutemen are warned by Pual Revere and William Dawes that the “Regualrs are out.”(One if by land, two if by sea-lanters in the Old North Church.)
  2. At Lexington 700 British troops encountered and defeat captain John Parker and approx, 70 minutemen, “Dont fire unless fired apon but if they mean to have a war, let it begin here!”
    3.At concord more than 1000 colonist suprise the British with Guerrilla tactics, sending them scurrying back to Boston.
    4.The milita ambushes and follows the red coats all the way back ti Boston, killing and wounding a large amount of red coats and making the British relize that its not going to be easy.

A

-Sent olive branch petition to King George 3.
-Set up continental “army” George Washington named commander-in-cheif.
-Set up committee to write declaration of independence.
-John Hancock is elected president of the congress.

Fort Ticonderoga?

A

British fort, controlled route to Canada by way of lake champlain.
-Ethan Allen and the green mountain bays, with help from Benedict Arnold, suprised British and captured the fort/
-Gave colonist much needed confidence as well as cannon and ammunition.

A

-Fought on Breeds Hill.
-COLONIST- led by WIlliam Prescott.
-BRITISH- Led by William Howe. He attacked 3 times before winning.
-Colonist victory, British suffering.
QUOTE, “Dont fure until you see the whites of their eyes,” Prescott.
