-The promise of the Holy Spirit
-Jesus announces empowering by the Spirit (only father knows the time for Israel’s restoring)
-The ascension of Jesus (1:9-11)
(after Jesus had trained the apostles, Jesus is elevated from earth)
-The 120 waited because of Jesus’ order to wait for the promised HS; they were unified and devoted to prayer
-Choice of the 12th apostle
-Judas fell away; reality of ministry is that you will lose people

Importance of Ascension
A
- Transfers Christ’s work to the church / handed off the baton
- we are given spiritual gifts to continue HIS work
- literal bodily ascension provides hope for Christ’s return (parousia)
