ACTIVITY Flashcards
1
Q
Ventricular Tachycardia Nurse Intervention
A
- Check patient responsiveness
- If responsive check carotid pulse and breathing for 5-10 seconds
- If pulse and breathing is present check if HR is greater than 150
- If patient is unstable immediately implement synchronized cardioversion
- If patient is unresponsive check carotid pulse and breathing for 5-10 seconds
- If there is no pulse/breathing call for help and start CPR
- Once crash cart arrives apply defibrillator
DEFIBRILLATOR STEPS
1. CPR 2 min
2. Rhythm and pulse check
3. Shock
(Repeats)
2
Q
First Degree AV Block
A
- Check for patient responsiveness
- If responsive check carotid pulse (if no pulse call for help and start CPR)
- Check heart rate
- Check if the patient is symptomatic
- Is the patient stable?
Yes - Monitor patient (cardiac, non-invasive BP, v/s, 12 lead ECG) and treat underlying cause
No - Provide transcutaneous pacing, call doctor
3
Q
Sinus Tachycardia
A
- Check patient responsiveness
- If unresponsive check carotid pulse
- Check HR (between 100-150) and monitor cardiac, BP, vs, 12-lead ECG
- Treat underlying cause
- If HR is greater than 150 and unstable immediately apply synchronized cardioversion
4
Q
A-Fib
A
- Check responsiveness
- If unresponsive check carotid pulse and HR
- If HR is between 100-150 monitor patient (BP, VS, 12-lead ECG) and treat underlying cause
5
Q
Sinus Arrest
A
- Check responsiveness
- Check pulse and breathing for 5-10 seconds
- If there is a pulse and breathing continue to monitor
- If unresponsive (no pulse or breathing) call for help and start CPR
6
Q
Atial-Flutter
A
- Check for responsiveness
- If unresponsive check carotid pulse and breathing for 5-10 seconds
- If unresponsive and no pulse, call for help and start CPR
7
Q
A-Systole
A
- Check for responsiveness
- If responsive check carotid pulse and HR (100-150)
- If unstable immediate synchronized cardioversion
- If unresponsive check breathing 5-10 seconds
- If no breathing call for help and start CPR
8
Q
Sinus Bradycardia
A
- Check responsiveness
- Check carotid pulse and HR
- If stable monitor patient
- If unstable provide transcutaneous pacing
