Activity 11 Vocabulary-English Flashcards
Corresponding parts
Result from a one-to-one matching of sides and angles from one figure to another.
Congruent triangles have three pairs of congruent sides and angles.
Counterexample
Single example that shows that a statement is false.
Criterion
A standard or rule on which a judgment can be based. Ex: Triangle Congruence Criteria (SSS or SAS)
Triangle Congruence Criteria
Side-Side-Side (SSS)-all three sides are equal.
Side-Angle-Side (SAS)-2 sides and the included angle are equal.
Angle-Side-Angle (ASA)-2 angles and the included side are equal.
Angle-Angle-Side (AAS)-2 angles and non-included side are equal.
Perpendicular Bisector Theorem
A point lies on the perpendicular bisector of a segment if and only if it is equidistant from the endpoints of the segment.
HL
If the hypotenuse and one leg of a right triangle are congruent to the corresponding hypotenuse and leg of another triangle, then the triangles are congruent.
