Active Transport Flashcards
Define Active Transport
Active transport moves substances from a more DILUTE solution to a more CONCENTRATED solution (which goes against the concentration gradient). This requires energy from respiration
How does Active Transport go against the concentration gradient?
In the concentration gradient the substances move from a higher connection to a lower concentration whereas in active transport the substance move from a lower concentration to an higher concentration.
How is active transport different from Diffusion and Osmosis?
Diffusion and Osmosis do not require energy as they are passive and active transport requires energy from respiration.
In which organelle does respiration take place in?
Mitochondria
