Active Can/SVC Flashcards
What is the active can/SVC coil feature?
A way to turn the SVC coil or can on/off to troubleshoot high DFTs
What is the nominal programming for SVC coil/Active can?
Can and SVC on
What does the “Can + SVC” feature do?
Connects the active can (HVA) and the active SVC coil (HVX). Current flows between these electrodes and the RV coil (HVB).
What does the “Can Off” setting do?
It removes the can (HVA) as a vector, so current flows between the SVC coil (HVX) and the RV coil (HVB)
What are the polarities of each HV electrode?
The polarities of the can (HVA) and the SVC coil (HVX) are always the same and the RV coil (HVB) is the opposite.
How is the direction of the current determined?
By the settings for the pathway parameter.
Are there any safeguards for this algorithm?
There is a non-programmable patient alert if the active can is programmed off and there is no SVC coil plugged into the can.
What is considered “normal” shock polarity and what is considered “reverse”?
AX>B is normal and B>AX is reverse.
Which shock polarity have studies shown lowers DFT’s?
Reverse
