Active and passive Transport Flashcards
Name 2 types of active transport?
Active transport with proteins and Vesicle transport.
3 types of passive transport?
Osmosis, Diffusion, and Facilitated diffusion.
Two types of Vesicle transport?
Endocytosis and Exocytosis.
What does active transport with protein uses?
It uses carrier protein and proton pump to move particles against the concentration graident.
What is Facilitated Diffusion?
Movement of large or
charged molecules down gradient with the
help of proteins in the plasma membrane
What is Diffusion?
small, neutrally charged solutes
move down gradient through the plasma
membrane. (CO2, O2, vitamins)
What is Osmosis?
The diffusion of water (low to high conc)
Hypertonic solution meaning?
solute concentration in
the ECF is HIGHER than the solute
concentration inside the cell. (makes cell shrivel)
Hypotonic solution meaning?
solute concentration in
the ECF is LOWER than the solute
concentration inside the cell. (makes cell swell)
What is turgor pressure?
causes plants to stand up
