What does the frontalis do
Raises eyebrows, wrinkles skin of forehead horizontally
What does the occipitalis do
It pulls scalp posteriorly
What does the corrugator supercilli do
It pulls eyebrows inferiorly and medially (as in squinting)
What does the orbicularis oculi do
Closes eyes, pulls skin around, as in blinking and winking
What does the levator labii superioris
It elevates the upper lip, everts and furrows upper lip, (as in sneering)
What does the zygomaticus minor do
Raises lateral position of the upper lip to expose upper teeth (as in smiling)
What does the zygomaticus major do
It pulls the angle of the mouth superiorly and laterally (as in smiling and laughing)
What does the risorius do
Pulls the angle of the mouth laterally to make a closed-mouth smile
What does the obicularis oris
It closes and protrudes the lips (as in puckering the lips for a kiss)
What does the depressor anguli oris
It draws corner of the mouth inferiorly (unhappy face)
What does the depressor labii inferioris
It protrudes lower lip, (sad or pouting expressions)
What does the mentalis do
It protrudes the lower lip and chin for drinking and doubtful expression
What does the buccinator do
It helps manipulate food and chewing and expels air through pursed lips
What does the platsyma do
It lowers the lower lip and opens mouth by depressing the mandible
