1. Shylock is preparing to take a pound of Antonio’s flesh
2. bassanio offers to pay more money then he is owed
3. Doctor bellario is supposed to take the case but “Balthazar” shows in his place
4. Portia/Balthazar tells Shylock to be merciful , he refuses
5. Portia states that’s Shylock is entitled to exactly one pound of flesh and may not shed a drop of blood (impossible) so Shylock says he will accept the 9,000 ducats instead (this is not allowed)

5.he’s declared guilty for attempting to take Antonio’s life

He will give Antonio half of his wealth, Shylock can only have the other half of his money if he converts to Christianity and agrees to give all he has to his daughter and Lorenzo
