Cherry/Julie enter
Roy: “Back to my ward, then I’ll ask for a transfer to a closed ward.”
Lewis: “But why?”
Roy: “It’s for the best.”
enter in doorway
Lewis: “But it was your dream to do Cosi.”
Roy: “Not anymore.”
“He’s got stage fright.”
Roy: “Don’t be ridiculous, woman.”
“I saw you in the dressing room, talking to yourself, saying ‘Come on Roy, it’ll all be all right when you’re on stage’”.
Roy spiralling
Cherry: “I heard that the ward assistants are putting the doped-up ones and catatonics in the front rows.”
Roy: “That’s not going to help my performance. I feed off audience reaction.”
[to Julie] “Do we take six or seven steps in the garden scene? You know the one, where we give in to the boys when we’re disguised. One, two three”
Roy: “You’re all right, Jerry! I’m back! Let’s go through some lines as I slip into my character.”
exit with Roy
Nick/Cherry/Henry exit
Julie: “Henry, Roy wants to go through his lines with you. One minute he’s in a panic the next he’s an egomaniac. He says he wants a dressing room for himself.”

Lewis: “We haven’t got one.”
Julie: “That’s what I said.”
“He asked for our help then rejected it. No wonder D ward wants him transferred. One, two, three”
Julie/Lewis exit, Zac enters
Zac: “Where’s Lewis?”
doing steps and poses
“Don’t know. Damn. Mixed up my steps.” go back
Zac: “I suppose a fuck is out of the question?”
walk into Zac
glare, he moves, do pose, walk out
Zac monologue, Henry runs in
Lewis: “What is it, Henry?”
Henry: “Ccccan’t stop. Ggggot to break a curse!”
Lewis: “Henry, the audience is coming in!”
run onstage
“Lewis!”
Lewis: “What is it?”
“Zac’s on the floor in the dressing room, he’s comatose!”
exit
Henry speech
Henry: “Some call it a sin, others a drug, but I think it’s the necessity of women’s hearts.”
Henry exits
enter nobly
“Henry! Now, where did he go?”
Henry runs on DSR
“Henry! We’re skipping the overture. Come on, you’re on!”
