Q

V1

Represented by a blue “1” on the airspeed scale

A

The maximum speed in the takeoff at which the Pilot must take the first action to stop the airplane within the accelerate-stop distance.

V1 also means the minimum speed in the takeoff, following
the failure of one engine, at which the Pilot can continue the takeoff and achieve the required height above the takeoff surface within the takeoff distance.

21
Q

VR

Represented by a blue circle on the speed scale.

A

VR: The speed at which the Pilot rotates in order to reach V2 at an altitude of 35 ft at the latest after an engine failure.

22
Q

V2

Represented by the magenta triangle on the speed scale (or a magenta
number when it is off the airspeed scale).

A

V2: Takeoff safety speed that the aircraft attains at the latest at an
altitude of 35 ft with one engine failed, and maintains during the
second segment of the takeoff.
