Rosacea is a common chronic disorder of the skin:

  • Redness
  • Flushing
  • Telangiectases
  • Roughened skin
  • Rhinophyma
  • General inflammation that can resemble acne

A

The underlying cause is currently unknown. Triggers include:

  • Climatic exposures (sunlight)
  • Vasculature
  • Chemical and ingested agents (amiodarone, spicy foods, corticosteroids)
