- teenagers, 30-60

- spicy food and alcohol

- hair folliculitis becomes inflamed

A
- topical antibiotics - erythromycin/clinodmycin
- benzoyl peroxide cream
- topical retinoid cream

(good for comodone use/should not used in pregnancy)

How is moderate acne managed?
A
- Oral antibiotics - Lymecycline
- Benzoylperoxide/topical retinoids
- Females;
- combined oral contraceptives
- spirnolactone (avoid in pregnancy)

How is severe acne manged?
A
- Oral retinoid -Roaccutane/Isoretinoin
2. must not combine with tetracycline as both raise ICP

What needs to be considered when prescribing oral retinoid?
A
- women of child bearing age need to be on 2 forms of contraception
- 1 month before/during/after - Increases suicide risk/depression - avoid with hx of mental illness

Name 4 side effects of oral retinoid?
A
- Dry lips and skin
- LFTs deranged
- Teratogenicity
- Increased ICP
