4 questions to ask when assessing patient?
1) Ask for name
2) C/C: “what brought you to the ED”
3) Call for help: “I need colleagues, defib machine and resus trolley”
4) Expose the patient: “remove the top of the patient” –> I will need to expose your chest to place some chest leads
5 Qs to ask when assessing stability of the patient?
1) Acutely altered mental status
2) Any chest pain?
3) Any difficulty in breathing?
4) Signs of shock:
a. Temperature (hold the peripheries)
b. Pulse volume
c. CRT
5) BP
AND Lung bases for crepitation
Determine if patient is stable or unstable.
Patient is having stable SVT:
1) First line Rx.
1)
a. Carotid massage
