level 1
Automatic actions-Automatic motor responses
- Changes in the autonomic nervous system
- Minimal awareness of and reaction to the external environment
- May perform automatic motor movements – walking, standing, eating, drinking, lifting arms and legs
- Total assistance with all activities
level 2
Postural Actions- Movement is associated with comfort -pacing -bending -stretching -Some awareness of large objects in the environment -May assist caregiver with simple tasks -May participate in gross motor games -Maximum assistance with all activities
Level 3
Manual Actions- Uses hands to manipulate objects
- May perform a limited number of tasks with long-term repetitive training
- Manipulates familiar objects
- Performs familiar ADL tasks
- Reacts spontaneously to tactile stimulation
- Moderate assistance with all activities
Level 4
Goal Directed Actions-
Carries simple tasks through to completion
-Relies heavily on visual cues
-May be able to carry out established routines
-Unable to cope with unexpected events or changes in routine
-Difficulty learning new tasks and generalizing skills
-Sensory responses to visual stimuli
-Minimal assistance with familiar, goal directed activities
-Able to live alone at level 4.6
Level 5
Exploratory actions- able to multi-step
- Learns through trial and error
- Can learn independently through exploratory actions
- Able to alter actions through trial and error
- Poor organization, planning and socialization
- Participates well in concrete tasks, able to learn new tasks and generalize skills
- they start using there core five senses
- May be the usual level of functioning for 20% of the population
level 6
Planned actions-
Absence of cognitive disability
-Able to think of hypothetical situations and plan ahead to prevent mistakes
-Able to do mental trial and error problem solving
-Able to consider the consequences of actions
-Able to follow multistep verbal or written cues
-Independent with all activities
