ACIM Flashcards
What is the attitude of non-dualism guiding you to recognize?
The attitude of non-dualism tells me that what I am seeing is not the truth.
If the Truth is that everything perceived isn’t true, what logical deduction should be made about my internal reactions to this world?
I should be asking myself “what’s the point or value in expending energy in judging something that isn’t there?”.
If this world is an illusion then why does it matter to me what is happening in this illusion - in this “world” in which I believe I am a body?
The simple Truth is that this illusion IS having an impact on me NOT because it’s real, but because I have GIVEN it a power it does not and cannot have.
Do the actions I take or don’t take matter in this world?
It doesn’t matter what actions you take or don’t take in the world—what DOES matter is my way of SEEING and the ATTITUDE I maintain while engaging in any action.
What about my earthly needs and concerns? How ill I know what to do and how to live?
Of course, as long as you appear to exist within the world of multiplicity, you will have some temporary earthly concerns, and we do not intend to ignore your worldly needs. The Holy Spirit isn’t stupid. The way to go through life now, is to always join with the Holy Spirit and / or Jesus, while doing what you call “your” life.
So I am to consider the Holy Spirit as my True guide. As my boss even though I appear to be my own boss? And I can be practical and use my intelligence to make my life as successful and efficient as possible?
Yes! We’re not suggesting you shouldn’t be practical and take care of yourself. It’s just that your real boss won’t be of this world. You don’t even have to tell anybody you’re not the boss if you don’t want to. If you want to have your own business and look like you’re the boss, then fine. Make it work the best way you feel guided to. BE GOOD TO YOURSELF.
Which is more important - the work I do or the mental attitude I have while doing my job?
It’s your mental attitude we’re really concerned with, not what you appear to do. Eventually, you will come to see anything you do to make a living as an illusion to support you in the illusion, without really supporting the illusion.
What important ability am I acquiring with the attitude of pure non-dualism I.e. That the world - the sum total of my experience isn’t true?
With the attitude of non-dualism, you are acquiring the ability to question all of your judgments and beliefs. Because all my judgements and beliefs are based on the dualistic attitude that I am a body in a world outside my body.
If there isn’t anything such as a subject and object, then what exactly does exist ?
There is only oneness.
There are two kinds of oneness what are they and which one is the ultimate experience or reality?
The oneness Buddha experienced was with the mind. It’s an imitation of the genuine oneness Jesus experienced and guides us to experience through ACIM. Few have learned to make the distinction between being one with the mind that has seemingly separated itself from God, and being one with God. The seemingly separated mind MUST ultimately be returned to Him.
What do you learn from traditional non-dualism?
I have learned I can’t really separate one thing from anything else—nor can I separate anything from myself.
How is Newtonian and Quantum physics different in explaining the objective universe?
Newtonian physics held that objects were real and outside of you with a separate existence. Quantum physics demonstrates that this is not true. The universe is not what you assume it to be; everything that appears to exist is really INSEPARABLE THOUGHT. You can’t even observe something without causing a change in it on the sub-atomic level.
So, what is the correct way to describe where everything, including my body, is?
Everything is in your mind, including your own body.
Describe the nature and “location” of the thinking mind.
The thinking mind is ONE and is thinking EVERYTHING, this mind is completely outside the illusion of time and space.
Regarding the One thinking mind, what aspect of this ONE mind, is not taught by any philosophy except ACIM, and which won’t be very popular with people?
That this mind is itself also an illusion.
What is the key, crux, crucial, vital, essential and core point to deduce from this statement of Truth:
“Nothing but unity exists?”
Then, anything other than unity must have been made up. It’s an illusion.
What was Jesus’ attitude regarding the ultimate Truth?
His is the awareness of pure non-dualism, the end of the road, the final stop.
What is the correct perspective on learning this truth? On traveling this road through the four phases of coming to Truth?
Each of the four major attitudes of learning are long roads in themselves, and you will sometimes bounce around like a Ping-Pong ball in between them. The Holy Spirit will correct you along the way and set you back in the right direction. Do not feel bad when you temporarily lose your way. There is no one who has ever walked this earth, including J, who did not give in to temptation in some way. The myth of living a perfect life in terms of behavior is self-defeating and unnecessary. All that is necessary is to be willing to receive correction.
Today I should be willing to do what? What is the correct attitude to have today?
Simply be open to correction.
It’s not about getting it right. The real question is?
How long do I want to prolong my suffering?
In reality, when you judge what are you doing?
Chaining myself to a body and a world that I am making psychologically real form by failing to forgive.
If nothing I see or experience is real - from the perspective of God, then what is the inner attitude I should develop when I encounter resistance of any kind?
Ask the Holy Spirit to guide my thoughts so that they deeply grasp that what is happening right now isn’t real.
It’s true that matter appears out of nowhere. What’s less obvious, and yet necessary to realize, is that after it appears it is still nowhere. All space is empty and non-existent, even the tiny fraction of it that appears to contain something. We’ll explain what that something is eventually. As far as thoughts making images appear, a more accurate way of putting it would be that one thought made all images appear, because they all represent the same thing in seemingly different forms.

What is happening now
The activity that is happening now is orchestrated to mirror the first time My mind identified with the ego and ran from God in fear
Name two key qualities of Jesus.
Jesus was neither 1. judgmental nor a 2. reactionary.
What is Jesus non-dualism logic?
If nothing is outside of your mind, then to judge it is to grant it power over you, and to not judge it is to withdraw its power over you.
What is meant by the “like from like” principle?
This principle states that anything coming from God must be like Him. Pure non-dualism is not willing to compromise on this principle either. Rather, it says that anything that comes from God must be exactly like Him. God could not create anything that is not perfect or else He wouldn’t be perfect. The logic of that is flawless. If God is perfect and eternal, then by definition anything He creates would also have to be perfect and eternal.
Is there anything in this world that is perfect and eternal?
No!!
What other things did Jesus understand about this world?
- That it appeared for a reason, and 2. that it was a trick to keep people away from the truth of God and His Kingdom. 3. That because nothing here represented God , nothing here was of any importance.
What was Jesus final awareness and attitude he wanted to convey to people?
Jesus made a COMPLETE and UNCOMPROMISING distinction between God and everything else—everything else being totally insignificant except for the OPPORTUNITY it provided to LISTEN to the Holy Spirit’s INTERPRETATION of it, instead of the world’s.
Is perception and change of God?
No. Perception and change are not perfect nor eternal.
How then did Jesus handle His perception and change he saw in the world?
Jesus learned to OVERLOOK perception and choose with the perfect Love of Spirit on a consistent basis.
What were the key “mechanisms” that allowed Jesus to grow Spiritually?
The VITAL distinctions between PERFECT SPIRIT and the WORLD OF CHANGE allowed him to hear the Voice of the Holy Spirit more and more, which in turn allowed a process to unfold where he could forgive more and more.
What feature describes Jesus’ advanced stage?
The ability to JUST listen to THE VOICE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT and see right through everything else.
What was the final stage for Jesus?
He re-became, what this Voice represents— HIS AND YOUR TRUE REALITY AS SPIRIT AND ONENESS WITH THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN.
How will I sabotage the process of mastering the ability to listen only to the Holy Spirit’s Voice?
There are two core beliefs that will sabotage me:
- If I believe God has anything to do with the universe of perception and change.
- If I believe that the mind that made this world has anything to do with God.
A prerequisite of gaining the power and peace of the Kingdom is?
To give up my own pseudo-power and my own rather precarious kingdom.
You’ve got to be willing to surrender the idea of Authorship to God if you want to be able to share in your real power. Humility is the way—not a false humility that says you are inadequate, but a real humility that simply says God is your only Source. You will realize that except for His Love you need nothing, and he who needs nothing can be trusted with everything.

What was Jesus’ self proclaimed “True strength”?
The power of God
What was Jesus’ take on His own identity? .
As far as J was concerned, there was no J, and eventually there wasn’t. His reality was now that of pure spirit and outside of the illusion completely. This reality is also completely outside of the mind that made the false universe, a mind that people mistake for the home of their true oneness. J knew that the miscreation of the universe didn’t have anything to do with the truth. His identity was with God and nothing else.
Where is our True identity?
Our true identity, is completely outside of the mind that made the false universe, a mind that people mistake for the home of their true oneness. J knew that the miscreation of the universe didn’t have anything to do with the truth. His identity was with God and nothing else.
What did Jesus mean by “Enter by the narrow gate, for the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.”
he was telling people that what they are experiencing here is not life, while showing them the way to life.
What you are experiencing here is destruction, but J knew the way out. That’s why he said, “Be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world.” If he wasn’t a man who had lessons to learn like you, then why would he have to overcome the world in the first place?
He understood countless things we didn’t, yet all of it was connected to one consistent thought system, the thought system of the Holy Spirit.
What is the number one reason why the thinking of the world and the thinking of Jesus are mutually exclusive?
because J’s reality was not the body, and the world’s thinking is completely based upon an identification with the body as your reality.
What is the significance of being or not being the body to learning what Jesus and the Holy Spirit are teaching?
Not being a body is the most obvious thing in all the world. It’s supremely obvious and so completely overlooked. Making a clear distinction is key in learning the thought system of the Holy Spirit. Learning the truth and ending suffering.
If you are judging your life, and as you know now, your life as you perceive it, isn’t real - isn’t really happening, what does it say about this activity of judging?
The conclusion to draw is that it’s pointless - futile, unnecessary. NOT wrong. Understand that you are just really engaging in NOTHINGNESS.
