Accident - Notification Requirements
PIC/Operator - notify as soon as practicable.
PIC/Operator - written report within 10 days.
Incident - Notification Requirements
Serious incident/immediate hazard - certificate holder must notify ASAP and any person involved.
PIC must notify if airspace or bird incident.
Written report within 14 days.
Airspace Incident
Must notify CAA if - Certificate holder, non-employee but operates/maintains, pilot involved in incident.
Preservation of Records
Accident/Serious Incident - preserve all records for 14 days.
Accident - Definition
A person is fatally injured.
Aircraft sustains damage or structural failure impacting strength/perf/flight charecteristics and would require repair/replacement.
Aircraft is missing or completely inaccessible.
Incident - Definition
Any occurrence (other than accident) that is associated with operation of the aircraft, or affects safety of the operation.
Investigations
Operator must conduct investigation.
Submit report of investigation within 90 days.
Advise authority of actions to prevent re-occurrence.
Non-prosecution
Unless info reveals act or omission that caused unnecessary danger.
Unless info is false.
Unless Authority is obliged to release info under court order.
Wreckage - can’t remove, access, or interfere unless
Removing persons or livestock.
Protect the aircraft/contents from further damage.
Disconnect/deactivate cockpit voice recorder, flight data recorder or ELT.
Prevent obstruction to the public/air navigation where no practicable alternative.
Only as far as necessary.
