HOW DOES A DEFENDANT GET REPRESENTATION IN CRIMINAL CASES?

A

D will only get public funding for representation in court if he can show the court that he comes within at least one of the five ‘interests of justice’ factors. In the crown court D must pass a interest of justice and a means test to be eligible for a representation order. In the crown court it is automatically deemed satisfied the interests of justice test.
