5 checks for Prefabricated mobile scaffold towers
Maximum height-to-base ratios must not be exceeded
Diagonal bracing and stabilisers must not be damaged or bent
Brace claws must work properly
Internal access ladders must be in place
Wheels must be locked when used
Working platform must be boarded, with guard rails and toe boards fitted
Towers must be tied in windy conditions
Platform trap door must operate correctly
Rivets must be checked visually to ensure no damage.
5 Checks for Mewps
These must be operated by trained and competent persons only.
The ground conditions must be suitable
Check for overhead hazards
Guard rails and toe boards in place
Outriggers fully extended and locked into position
Tyres are properly inflated and wheels immobilised
Ensure the controls work as expected
Check fluid level and battery charge
Check the decent alarm and horn are working
Check that emergency or ground controls work
3 Checks for Tube and Fitting Scaffolds
Toe boards, guard rails and intermediate rails must be in place to prevent people and materials from falling
Scaffold must be on a stable surface and the uprights must be fitted with base plates and sole plates
Safe access and exit ladders must be in place and secured.

Are there any spills or things that can get in the way?
Do the wheels move freely and have no flat spots?
Are the forks without damage?
Is there any fluid leaking from the pallet jack?
Do all the controls function correctly?
