12 eye-level paintings along the 32m right-hand wall of Gallery Space 1
Hung against a wall painted in ‘Tongue PInk’
Dimly lit at 80 LUX - supports conservation and creates dark, ominous atmosphere
Evokes sexual connotations of photo calendars, objectification of women
Hung level from the bottom at eye-level, with equal distance b/w each work

A

Dominating installation resembling a witch’s hat in the left centre of the room
Ritualized sounds and imagery
Witch as a symbol of female marginalization, and also emancipation
Soundscape of screams and quickening breathing interweaves with other noises, creating claustrophobia and discomfort
Placed in the left- centre of Gallery 1- forcing the viewer to stop, look and go around it

ACCA conservation considerations

A

Don’t control go humidity but do control temperature at 21-22 degrees
Lighting only considers aesthetic purposes
Often installations will lack protective cases or barriers
Staff will monitor patrons and make sure they do not touch what they are not supposed to
