ACC Flashcards
Class Hooks
Class hooks are delivered at the beginning of class. These hooks should capture trainees’ attention and
get them interested in the content you are presenting. After hearing the class hook, you want trainees to think “I want to stay in this class‐‐it is valuable to me.”
Concept Hooks
Concept hooks, on the other hand, are delivered at the beginning of each new concept and are especially
important for concepts that may be difficult to understand. These hooks should also capture trainees’ attention and get them excited to learn about the new topic. Concept hooks should relate to the class hook‐‐they are smaller parts of the bigger picture.
Trainer Deviations
Lesson plans are designed to be used as a template for class, not necessarily a script. Trainers typically do not read lesson plans word by word in class but will instead add extra examples, clarification, and anecdotes to make the class more interesting and engaging. Adding extra review questions or organization specific facts help customize the learner’s
experience and meet their needs. Additionally, a successful trainer is able to customize the class to meet their audience.
HUTL
WORKFLOW BIG PICTURE – ROLE RELEVANCE AND STAFF INTERACTIONS
-Add notes, where appropriate, to explain how trainees’ role fits within the larger workflow context of the department, including:
-Where specific tasks fit in the trainee’s overall workflow and daily work.
-The impact of completing ﴾or failing to complete﴿ certain tasks on users downstream.
-When certain events or documentation are triggered by particular actions.
WORKFLOW MAPPING – CALLING OUT DIFFERENCES AND SIMILARITIES BETWEEN PREVIOUS WORKFLOW AND EPIC WORKFLOW
-To increase retention and ease the transition to Epic for users, tie the workflows users are learning
in class to what they did before.
-Add notes, where appropriate, to call out ways in which the new Epic workflow will be similar to what users did before and ways in which it will be different.
Make sure you:
-Evaluate any workflow‐crosswalk‐related placeholder statements to ensure they make sense for your organization.
-Include a summary of key workflow differences when wrapping up the lesson.

Validate vs Create
With your trainer, compare and contrast the following lists of workflows that users need training on with training tracks found in Training Wheels. For each one, decide whether the existing training track can be used with changes or if you will need to create a new training track.

How can a workflow crosswalk assist end users?
To increase retention and ease the transition to Epic for users, tie the workflows users are learning in class to what they did in their previous system. Add notes, where appropriate, to call out ways in which the new Epic workflow will be similar to what users did before and ways in which it will be different. Include a summary of key workflow differences when wrapping up the lesson.
