A
- how criminal behaviour is managed in society, by regulating peoples thoughts, feelings, appearance and behaviour
- involves pressures to persuade members of society to conform

A
Regulation of our own behaviour based on our feelings of guilty, shame, empathy and our moral compass

Rational ideology theory
A
- a set of beliefs based upon our rational thoughts influence our moral conscience and compell us to follow rules
- we conform to society’s norms/values due to our superego influencing our moral conscience (Freud psychodynamic theory)
- superego develops through socialisation from parents/society and we internalise rules as our own
