internal social control
Controls on our behaviour, coming from within ourselves (self control). If someone has good morals and values it will decrease the chance of them deviating from social norms.
tradition (ISC)
Conforming to social norms and rules through a person’s traditions and upbringings teaching you and reinforcing you not the break the law e.g muslims all fast
freud’s psychoanalytic theory
we conform to societal expectations & obey its rules bc our superego tells us to have self control & behave in a socially accepted way.
it tells us right from wrong & inflicts guilt on us if we fail to do as it urges
as result of internalisation our superego & traditions we follow become part of our inner self, influenced by things outside of it e.g parents rules, culture
