Law Creation: criminal law is made in Parliament

A guilty plea results in a sentence or a non-guilty plea results in a trial
The seventh stage in the criminal justice procedure
if convicted a formal punishment is given by a magistrate or a judge. The sentencing council provides assistance. They give out sentences depending on a crime such as a custodial sentence which results in prison
The eighth stage in the criminal justice procedure
HM prison service oversees prisoner welfare. HM Inspectorate of Prisons is an independent body that reports these conditions.
The ninth stage in the criminal justice procedure
When released from prison, a license is usually issued, and the offender is subjected to supervision under the probation service. Any breach of the conditions of probation results in prison.
