What is the first reading?
The government make a decision if the bill is going to be introduced in the House of Commons or the House of Lords
What is the second reading?
The whole house debates thr bill and there is a vote for the bill to move onto the next stage
What is the committee stage?
The bill is considered in detail and a committee meet up to examine all the finer points
What is the report stage?
The whole house has the opportunity to discuss the bill that the cross party committee has presented to the house
What is the third reading?
There is a voting and all members have the opportunity to debate the bill in its ‘final form’.
What happens when the bill is moved to the second house?
All the stages are repeated
What happens in the royal assent?
The bill is signed by the king making it a act of parliament or statue
