Define Internal form of social control
Something that control’s our behaviour from within us
Define External form of social control
Control our behaviour through social agencies

Walter Reckless Containment Theory
Suggests that internal and external containment prevents us from committing crimes.
- Inner containment comes from our families through socialisation
- Outer containment comes from comes from external forces like the laws of society and our social groups
Travis Hirschi Social Bond Theory
- In order to refrain from criminal behaviour, people must form social bonds
- If a person has weak social bonds, they are likely to commit deviant behaviour
