Crime control model/ The conveyer belt

A
  • Emphasises the role of the criminal justice system reducing and preventing crime
  • it also accentuâtes the importance for the justice system of protecting and the public through crime reduction
  • less focus on the suspects rights, essentially guilty until proven innocent
  • viewed as a ‘conveyer belt’ as the ultimate goal of convicting the guilty overrides civil
    liberty
    Examples:
  • removal of the ‘double jeopardy law’
  • the right to hold
    suspects
