what is green paper?

what is white paper?
created with formal proposals
allows the bill to be created and presented to parliament
what is judicial precedent?
laws made by the courts and decided by judges- must be followed in similar cases to prevent bias
what is common law?
a judge made law
what is court hierarchy?
Lower courts must abide to what the superior courts decide
what is statutory interpretation?
judges in superior courts are called upon to interpret words within the law. they have the ability to interpret the meaning if the law and make a verdict on case
what are the government processes?
first reading: name and aim of bill- formal vote
second reading: main debate- another vote
committee stage: representative look at bill and address issues- suggest change
report stage: committee report to the house and vote on amendments
third reading: final vote
royal assent: monarch signs bill
