A/N Callout Criteria
A
- Child Death 17 or younger
- Death of fetus 24 weeks gestational age
- Shaken baby; substantional body injury
- Near drowning with child hospitalized
- Drowning
- Head Trauma / fractures of any type
- Child burns
- Child left in a vehicle and child hospitalized
- Firearm related (accidental discharge)
- Child suicide or attempt 17 or younger

A/N Elder abuse Callout
A
- Head trauma and fractures (60 and older)
- Elder / Vulnerable person death (abuse / neglect related)
- Walk away from group home due to neglect from group home
- Abuse occurring in a group home
- Bed ridden / Non-mobile with severe bed sores
- Substantial injury from abuse or neglect
- Extreme Malnutrition
- Domestic disturbance ; injuries caused from abuse

Abuse Neglect Investigative steps
A
- Brief at hospital
- Be sure CPS has been notified
- Confirm injuries with Doctor and if consistent with parent e plantation
- Attend body examination with coroner if 419
- Speak with parents and obtain statements (for death cases coroner investigator will be present)
5.Obtain consent to go to scene with parents if they are willing. - Do a re-enactment with parents and record it.
- Timeline of who has had the child
- Document the scene. Photographs, measurements, water temperature, hot water heater setting.
- Schedule parents for polygraph
- Determine if cell phones are needed immediately or if they can wait.(texts, web search, photos)
- Follow up photographs of child and injuries to show healing process
- Attend autopsies for death scenes
- Determine if charges are appropriate.
- Cases can be brought to SPAN which is a meeting with the similar to SART
- Looking to explain any injuries you cant see or that may show up during autopsy or toxicology

Items to ask during parental interviews
A
- Timeline of who had the child 72 hours for acute injuries
- How the injuries occurred
- Where and when they injuries occurred
- Any witnesses to the injuries
- Is the child sick
- How is child disciplined
- Who is allowed to discipline the child
- Any other injuries the child may have that cannot be seen?
- Who last saw child
- Who found child
- Siblings / how old/ any history of violence
- Recent medications or any they have access to
