Adaptability
Team work and communication
What are your greatest weaknesses?
Public speaking when it comes to giving presentations. I would hopefully years down the like to gain enough experimce to get into a manager role. The public speaking part needs worked on. I actually have just recently tried attending a class to help with this,
What is a Feeler Gauge?
• A precision measuring tool made of thin metal strips (blades) of varying thickness.
• Used to measure gap widths or clearances between two parts (e.g., valve clearances, machine components).
• Essential for checking tolerances in mechanical fitting and assembly work.
What is Facing Off Seating/Castings?
• Facing off: Machining a surface flat and smooth, usually on a lathe or milling machine.
• Purpose: Ensures a proper fit between surfaces, like preparing a casting’s seat for bearings or other components.
• Common in mechanical fitting to achieve accurate mating surfaces for assembly.
What are Face Plates?
• Face Plates: Large, flat, circular metal plates mounted on a lathe; used to hold irregularly shaped workpieces during machining.
Tell me a time when you chose to do the right thing even though there were easier options?
When at sea we did a purifier overhaul and left out 1 disk from the stack inside the purifier. We could have just ran it the way out was, but I would then know that one disk wasn’t In there. So I suggested to the 4th engineer we take it apart again to out it back in.
How can I help with the company growing?
By being honest and kind. I think that spreads and has a knock on afffect. Also with my engineering background I hope to progess my own career in the future when I have more experience.
How well did you work in your last team?
My last team and I worked well together. Communication with getting the boats ready in the morning on a tight time schedule.
