Q

Abortion and the rape issue (01)

A

Challenge them with capital punishment –> “Then you must be for capital punishment for the rapist, correct?”

–> If you think the innocent fetus has no right to life, then you must be willing to end the life of the rapist

Really? Do you like slavery? You don’t? Well, then, don’t own a slave!

Don’t like guns? Then don’t own one!

Q

Abortion and the rape issue (02)

A

“Then let’s work on legislation together…I will draft the issue that abortion is permissible in rape cases, and you sign your agreement that it is illegal and immoral in all other issues…

You are boxing them in and getting to the real issue. Rape is only the case in 1-4% of all abortion cases. They are using rape as an “appeal to emotion” –> which is a logical fallacy –> they are simply pro-murder in ALL cases, not just rape cases.

Q

“I’m personally against abortion, but I would never force my views on someone.”

A

Let me get this straight, you agree that abortion dismembers, burns, and kills a human being, but you think its ok for the mother to do that to her child?

Are you personally against rape, but who are you to force your views/morality on someone else?

Are you personally against terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, but you would never force your views on another religion?

Q

I would never force my views on another person

A

Are you an animal rights activist? So you are against the torture of animals? Well who are you to tell other people that they can not harm animals? Why are you forcing your views on them?

Q

Why Not? Tactic…Next time somebody says you shouldn’t impose your beliefs on others, ask…

A

“Why not?”

Any answer he gives will be an example of his imposing his beliefs on you!

Q

“And how many children have you adopted?”

  1. What type of fallacy is this?
  2. Tactic to respond to this type of fallacy?
  3. Implement Columbo
  4. Specific pro-life tactic to use
A
  1. Non-sequitir
  2. Use Reductio to destory non-sequitirs
(Are you against crime? –> how many people have your arrested?)
(Are you against terroism? –> how many terroisit have you stopped?)
  3. Columbo’s
(what do you mean by that? How did you come to that conclusion?
    (Have you ever considered?)
  4. Specific pro-life tactic = “Trotting out the toddler”
    - say the following: “If there is a child in a burning house, and you are the only one who can run in and save him, but you know if you do, that you can not care for him, would you just let him burn and die?
  • if you were presented with two children and the person told you to adopt them today or they will be slaughtered and put to death tomorrow, does your unwillingness to adopt them justify their torturous murder?

Of note: maybe google “Christian Adoption Movement” to show them that Christians are among the leaders (if not the leader) in adoption –> stick that in their illogical face!
