What are the signs of chronic liver disease?
Leuconychia, Palmar erythema, Dupuytren’s contracture, palmar erythema, bruising, foectar hepaticus, spider naevi, gynaecomastia, distended abdominal veins (portal HTN)
What are the GI causes of clubbing?
IBD, cirrhosis
What is the cause of leuconychia?
Hypoalbuminaemia which causes whitening of the nail beds. This occurs in malnutrition, CLD, nephrotic syndrome.
What is the cause of koilonychia?
Iron deficiency anaemia
What causes Xanthomata?
Hyperlipidaemia through primary biliary cirrhosis
What causes flapping tremor?
Encephalopathy due to liver failure
What are scratch marks due to?
Raised Urea
What causes corneal arcus and xanthelasma?
Hyperlipidaemia
What can cause angular Stomatitis & glossitis?
Iron, folate, B12 deficiencies
What causes ulcer formation?
Coeliac disease, IBD, Iron deficiency
What is the cause of Virchow’s node?
Malignancy
What causes rebound tenderness?
Peritonitis
What causes enlarged liver?
Infective, neoplastic, cirrhotic, metabolic, toxins
