Abnormal Operations And Malfunctions Flashcards
If PMS fails or if the PMS push button on the ENGINE panel is pressed what will occur
PMS will indicate MAN in red on the engine panel.
MFD - ENGINE page will indicate a PMS MANUAL in RED
DWP - RED PMS
What does PMS MANUAL mode do to the aircraft?
Engine control is manual through Bowden Cable
Only one Idle value 67% +/- 7% NG
More thrust on the ground, more drag in the air
There is no automatic limiting
The FMU will provide a nominal fuel flow schedule according to PCL selections and Altitude
If the PCL is aft the vertical position at the time of manual reversion the engine will have a small noticeable power change
It is recommended to have the PCL at mid power position or lower when pressing the PMS pushbutton
Start sequence in Manual mode
Select booster pump “on” Pump L/R
Starter switch to MAN
When oil pressure rises - ignition switch “on”
The light up can occur before fuel flow indication and can be inaccurate. Monitor ITT
When NG reaches 13% move PCL slowly forward
As soon as fuel flow is indicated or ITT increases stop PCL movement until it stops
Continue to move PCL to the Idle indent and NG should read 60% - 74%
Once Engine has reached IDLE NG, return starter, ignition, and fuel pump switches to AUTO
Continue to Monitor ITT within these limits:
Max of 20 secs ITT value between 860 and 910 deg
Max of 5 secs ITT calve between 910 and 1000deg
Shut down engine if the ITT fails to rise or exceeds limits or if NG stabilises below idle. - Carry out ENGINE DRY RUN
What will the engine do if you move the PCL too quickly during MAN START
Quick PCL movement during manual START can cause the ITT to exceed limits or cause the engine to surge
What will the following warnings indicate? Audible alarm, Attention Getter flashing red, RED FIRE warning displayed on the DWP and MFD?
Engine compartment fire or overheating
What will the following warnings indicate? Audible Alarm, Attention Getter, RED OIL caption shown on the DWP together with a RED OIL PRESSURE warning on the MFD
Oil Pressure >199psi
Oil Pressure >130psi for >20 seconds
Oil Pressure < 70psi for > 20 seconds
What will the following warnings indicate? Audible alarm, attention getter, OIL TEMP on the MFD?
Oil temp >110deg
Oil temp <-40deg
Oil temp >105deg for >10min
What will the following warnings indicate during start sequence? Audible alarm attention getter, ENG ITTon the MFD
ITT is > 1000deg
ITT is >910deg for >5 seconds
ITT is >860def for > 20 seconds
What will the following warnings indicate during normal operations? Audible alarm attention getter, RED ENG ITT flashing on the MFD
ITT is > 910deg
ITT is > 860 for > 20 seconds
What will the following warnings indicate? Audible alarm, attention getter flashing and RED ENG NG Flashing on the MFD?
Gas generator speed is >104% for > 2 seconds
What will the following warnings indicate? Audible alarm, attention getter flashing and RED ENG TORQUE warning on the MFD.
PMS is set to AUTO mode and if either of the following apply:
ENG TORQUE is > 4875 ft lb
ENG TORQUE is > 4202 ft lb for > 20 seconds
What will the following warnings indicate? Audible alarm, attention getter flashing and AMBER PMS FAULT is displayed on the MFD?
A malfunction in the PMS, but the PMS is still controlling the engine
With engine running and auto controlled through PMS, whenever the STARTER and/or the IGN switches are moved out of their AUTO position, the PMS FAULT caution will also be displayed.
What will the following warnings indicate? Audible alarm, attention getter flashing, RED PMS MANUAL, AMBER ENG TORQUE on the MFD
The PMS is in AUTO mode and engine torque is >2830 ft llb for > 5 seconds
What will the following warnings indicate during the start sequence? Audible alarm, attention getter flashing and AMBER ENG ITT
ITT is > 910 deg
ITT is > 860 deg for > 5 seconds
The same caution is displayed during normal operations if:
ITT is <350 deg and the aircraft is in flight
ITT is > 860 for > 5 seconds
What will the following warnings indicate? Audible alarm, attention getter flashing and AMBER ENG NG is flashing on the MFD
ENG is not in start mode for > 4 seconds or is not shut down and the gas generator speed is <50.7%
Engine gas generator speed is >104%
