ABG's Flashcards
What is the normal Ph range and what is Acidic or basic
Normal range is 7.35-7.45
Lower equal acidic
Higher equals basic
What is the normal range for PaCO2?
35mmHg - 45 mmHg
Low levels = basic
High levels= acid
What is the normal range of HCO3
22-26
Low is acidic
High is basic
What is the normal range of BE?
-3 to +3
Low is acidic
High is basic
WHat does fully compensated mean
This means that saw the PaCO2 has increased and become more acidic. But the BE and HCO3 have compensated and become more basic. THis has then cause the pH to become compensated and within the normal range
What is the FiO when on 1L of Oxygen and what is the delivery method
24%
via NP
What is the FiO when on 2L of Oxygen and what is the delivery method
30%
via NP
When is the FiO when on 4L of oxygen and what is the delivery method
35%
Via NP
What is the FiO of 6L of oxygen and what s the delivery method
40%
HM
WHat is the FiO of 8L of oxygen and what is the delivery method
60%
HM
What is FiO of 10L of oxygen and what is the delivery method
70 %
HM
What is the FiO of 10L on NRB oxygen?
75-85 %
via NRB
How do you figure out PaO2?
It should be about 5 times your FiO2 (respiratory reserve ration)
if PaO2 is less than 3 times the FiO2 then the patients have poor respiratory reserve and may not be appropriate to stress further
What volume airflow can NP handle
1-4l/min
COncentration 24-35%
What airflow can HM handle?
5-8L/ming
concentration 40-60%
