Q

Track for digestive system in both humans and fetal pigs

A

The diaphragm is first and in both humans and pigs it separates the thoracic and the abdominal cavity and assists with breathing by permitting inhalation and exhaltion. Next is the gall bladder which helps to produce bile in both humans and pigs. Then there is the stomach which mixes food with the bile. The small intestine then digests anything not previously digested from the stomach. Then its the large intestine which absorbs water, the pancreas which helps regulate hormone levels and blood sugar. Next comes the spleen that helps regulate the level of blood cells, the kidneys come next and help remove waste products/excess fluid from the body. Finally there is the urinary bladder which gets rid of fluid, the reproductive structures such as the urogenital system with the rectum getting rid of the waste products from the digestive tract.

Q

duodenum

A

This is located in the small intestine and is found in the Epigastric region/Umbilical region. It helps to continue the movement/digestion of food from the bottom of the stomach into the opening of the small intestine.

Q

rugae

A

This is also located in the stomach in the epigastric region and is the folds of the stomach that help to churn and mix the food with the digestive juices.

Q

pyloric sphincter

A

This is in the stomach in the Right Upper Quadrant and is at the posterior end of the stomach and works to regulate the release of partially digested food into the duodenum.

16
Q

mesentary

A

This is located in the small intestine in both the Right lower quadrant and the left lower quadrant. The mesentery works to reduce friction between the moving parts of organs.

17
Q

cystic duct

A

This is in the gall bladder in the Right Upper quadrant and helps to transport bile from the gall bladder through the bile duct system.

18
Q

common bile duct

A

This is located in the gall bladder as well in the Right Upper Quadrant and helps to join together the hepatic duct from the liver into one whole structure that enters the duodenum.

19
Q

hepatic duct

A

This is located in the gall bladder in the Upper Right Quadrant and is the passage from the bile in the liver to the common bile duct which then goes into the duodenum.

20
Q

gallbladder

A

This is located in the Upper Right Quadrant and works to store bile that is secreted from the liver and releases it into the duodenum.

21
Q

rectum

A

This is located in the Hypogastric region and is the end of the digestive tract where it expels out any waste products.
