Cefotaxime 2 grams q8
Piptazobactam 3.375q6
Ceftriaxone 2grams q24
Chronic antibiotic for critically ill patient
Ascetic-fluid total protein level <1.5 g/dl along with impaired renal function crea >1.2mg/dl
BUN more than 25mg/dl
Serum sodium <130mg/dl and liver failure child Pugh score more than 9
Bilirubin 3mg/dl
Only seven day course of antibiotic prophylaxis for cirrhosis with bleeding
Secondary prevention to SBP
For patient with normal crea
Ciprofloxacin 500mg weekly
Norfloxacin 400mg/d
Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole one double strength daily
Treatment for secondary peritonitis
Penicillin/b lactamase inhibitor 3.1 grams q4-6IV, piptazobactam 3.375 grams q6 or combination with flouroquinolone levofloxacon q24 or 3rd chalophorin ceftriaxone 2 grams q24 plus metronidazole 500mg q8
For pseudomonas
Meropenem 500q6, 1gram q8, piptazobactam 4.5q6 or drug combi
Cefepime 2 grams q8 or ceftazidime 2 grams q8 plus metronidazole
CAPd
With set infection. 21
