after an abdominal surgery
inflammation of the periotoneum
why is it important to auscultate the abdomen before percussing or palpating?
B/c you could create false bowel sounds
assessing vascular sounds
use firmer pressure
usually no sound is present
this should be the predominate sound
tympany
this sound may indicate trapped gas
hyperresonance
this sound may indicate some kind of mass
dull
during percussion what should the patient feel?
the patient should feel a thud but no pain
during percussion, what does pain indicate?
kidney inflammation
