Abdomen Flashcards
What artery supplies the foregut and at which vertebral level would you find it?
coelic trunk T12 off the aorta
What vessel supplies the midgut and at which vertebral level does it arise?
superior mesenteric L1
What structures does the superior mesenteric supply
Distal ½ of duoudenum, jejunum, ileum, caecum, appendix, transverse colon up to the splenic flexure
differnces bet jejunum and illeum
jejunum has thicker wall, has numerous plicae circulares, lacks Peyer’s patches, longer vasa recta with a few large arterial arcades
Ileum is thinner, few plicae, many Peyer’s patches and has short vasa recta with many short arcades
Blood supply to the hindgut
Inferior mesenteric artery (L3)
Common hepatic artery branches
Common Hepatic artery
Gastroduodenal
Supraduodenal
Superior pancreaticoduodenal – A/P branches to head of pancreas and …………………
Right gastro-omental artery along lower greater curvature of stomach
Right Gastric artery - along lower lesser curvature of stomach
Hepatic artery proper
Left hepatic artery
Right hepatic artery
Cystic artery
what nerve controls the anal sphincter
pudendal nerve
free edge of the falciform ligament
ligamentum teres hepatis)
what attaches the liver to the anterior abdominal wall
falciform ligament
Structures find porta heptis
Bile duct, hepatic portal vein, hepatic artery proper.
spleen location
Ribs 9-11 in midaxillary line
liver location
4.5-8.5
muscles posterior abdominal wall
psoas major (+minor if present), quadratus lumborum, transversus abdominis. NOTE: iliacus (which arises from the iliac fossa) joins with psoas major to form iliopsoas which produces hip flexion
