Abdo & Inguinal region tutorial Flashcards
From which 4 sources does the diapragm develop?
Diaphragm is developed from four sources:
- Septum transversum (between primitive heart and liver) → historically thought to give rise to the central tendon
- Mesoderm from lateral body wall → peripheral parts of diaphragm, supplied by lower intercostal nerve
- Pleuroperitoneal folds
- Dorsal mesentery of oesophagus – crura
- How common are Congenital diaphragmatic hernias?
- Where are they most common? What is a Bochdalek hernia?
- What are they thought to be due to the abnormal development of?
- What is mortality and morbidity mostly due to?
