A

July 14, 1789. The Bastille was used as a prison and a garrison for military weaponry. 800 men rallied and roited to overthrow the stronghold.

It symbolized the fall of the Old Regime, strength in the Bourgeois, and it saved the National Assembly from collapse.

A

Rumors of a strong aristocratic army to stop the Revolution led to a mad panic (Great Fear) by the peasantry.

It instigated more riots and raids, ultimately resulting in the fold of King Louis XVI. This allowed a new Declaration of the Rights of Man to be drawn up by the National Assembly.
