Who carries out monitoring internally?
Line managers.
Who carries out monitoring externally?
Inspectors and regulators.
What are 4 duties of the line manager to enSure staff are?
Following the policies and procedures of the organisation.
Adhering to the codes of conduct/practice as established by their regulatory body.
Accountable for providing appraisals.
Full and up-to-date training to meet the standards set.
What is whistleblowing?
When a member of staff is aware of poor quality of care at their workplace and report it to managers or elsewhere.
Why do members of staff Whistleblow?
They believe it’s in the public’s interest to report what’s happening and bring about change.
Who may the Whistleblower raise their concerns to?
Their line manager
The police (if they’ve witnessed criminal behavior)
The national whistleblowing helpline
Their regulatory body (NMC etc.)
