16
Q

What is the definition of CATEGORY B AIRPORT?

A

Same as Category A but has additional considerations and possibly restrictions on use (RMS).

17
Q

What is the definition of CATEGORY C AIRPORT?

A

Cannot be classified at A or B. For use in an emergency. Not to use for inflight medical emergency.

18
Q

What is the definition of EMERGENCY AIRPORT?

A

For use in aircraft emergency only. Cannot be planned as destination or alternate. May be used for DPD calculations.

19
Q

What is the definition of ALTERNATE AIRPORT?

A

Alternate airport for destination. Category A or B. Either Suitable Airport from DPA or Alternate from Destination.

20
Q

What is the definition of ISOLATED AIRPORT?

A

Airport that doesn’t have Alternate Airport due to location.

21
Q

What is the definition of SUITABLE AIRPORT?

A

Category A or B that doesn’t require an alternate or holding fuel carried for weather.

22
Q

What is the definition of ACCEPTABLE AIRPORT?

A

Category A, B, C or Emergency forecast above landing minima.

23
Q

What is the definition of TAKEOFF ALTERNATE AIRPORT?

A

Category A, B, C or Emergency forecast above landing minima within 2 hours of departure when departure airport below lowest usable landing minima.

24
Q

What is the definition of PRE FLIGHT FUEL?

A

Must have the following minimum fuel preflight:

Taxi Fuel
Flight Fuel
Approach Fuel
VFR (may be 10% from DPA when 5,000kg cannot be carried)
FFR
Diversion Fuel (when required)
Special Holding Fuel (when required)
Contingency Fuel (when required)
Arrival Allowance (when required)

Flight may be planned and depart to DPA if reduced VFR cannot be carried.

25
Q

What is the definition of INFLIGHT FUEL?

A

Must have the following minimum fuel after initial fuel uplift:

Fuel to Suitable Airport
10% of above
Approach Fuel
FFR
Special Holding Fuel (when required)
Arrival Allowance (if using reduced alternate weather criteria)

Suitable airport in order is Destination, Alternate or other Suitable.

26
Q

What is the definition of AV1 – ISOLATED AIRPORT (TAHITI)?

A

Special holding of 90 minutes preflight.

Inflight if alternate required, may proceed in special holding intact and above landing minima with 2 hour buffer.

27
Q

What is the definition of AV2 – NEW ZEALAND?

A

If destination doesn’t have two separate usable runways (none for A380), diversion fuel from TOD to Suitable alternate.

28
Q

What is the definition of AV3 – ONWARD DPD PORT NOT AVAILABLE?

A

If onward acceptable not available may depart but not beyond DPD unless fuel to acceptable airport depressurised with FFR intact. If INTER/TEMPO below landing minima then must have that fuel too.

29
Q

What is the definition of AV4 – ONWARD DP1 PORT NOT AVAILABLE?

A

If onward suitable not available may depart but not beyond DP1 unless fuel to suitable airport one engine inoperative with FFR intact.

30
Q

What is the definition of AV7 – SEVERE LOW LEVEL TURBULENCE?

A

If forecast (30 minute buffer either side), additional 5,000kg fuel or fuel to end of period (whichever is lesser). Preflight requirement only.

31
Q

What is the definition of FUEL TANKERING?

A

Only if destination does not have any of the following:

  • Ice, Snow or Slush forecast
  • Wet with reduced braking action
  • Displaced threshold
  • Company documentation advising against it

Flex takeoff achievable, takeoff weight up to MTOW, landing weight to MLW minus 6,000kg.

Tanker allowance domestically is 12,000kg
