A320 Neo Flashcards
EXTERIOR WALKAROUND
• Fan Cowl Loss Prevention Flag - in closed (stowed) position
• Interphone jack flapper door (on engine cowl) - closed
• Starter Valve override flapper door (on engine cowl) – closed
• Thrust reversers - closed/latched
• Engine drain masts – No leaks (small amount of oil under drain masts after shutdown is normal)
PRELIMINARY COCKPIT PREPARATION
ENG OIL QTY indication – Only visible when FADEC powered, use pushbuttons in overhead panel (ENG FADEC GND PWR) then OFF when finished (don’t use Mode Sel. to IGN.) Min Oil QTY 10.6qt +0.45qt/hr
Engine starting
Min Oil temp for starting engines -40C.
• Depending on existing engine temp, expect pre-start motoring to occur automatically for both AUTO and MAN starts. Total engine start time can take up to 2 mins (not a limitation). Allow FADEC to control start and only intervene if directed by ECAM
• Expect EGT to reach very close to red line – this is normal
Taxi/take-off
At high OAT, expect idle thrust to be increased
• Min oil temp for take-off +19degC (ECAM Warning if not)
Landing/taxi in
Full reverse thrust is much more effective than CEO engines
• Cool down period of 3 mins at idle power is very important
ICE protection
FADEC will automatically control engine core anti-ice (visible by BOOST or CORE on ENG page)
• Nacelle ENG ANTI ICE must be controlled by pilot (as per current SOP)
• Ice shedding - accelerate engines to approximately 50 % of N1 for 5 s at intervals not greater than 60 min -just before take-off, 50 % N1, then power setting and dwell time should be as high as practical
