Q

During a medical cardiac arrest resuscitation:

What are stacked shocks?

A0201-1: Medical Cardiac Arrest - Adult

A

If a pt has a witnessed arrest w/pads already attached, administer up to 3 shocks prior to HP-CPR.
- First shock within 20sec of arrest occurring
- <10sec between shocks (immediate rhythm check after each shock)
- Treat stacked shocks as a single shock for drug admin purposes

Q

During a medical cardiac arrest resuscitation:

What are the standard actions for all cardiac arrest patients?

A0201-1: Medical Cardiac Arrest - Adult

A
  1. SGA (CPR ratio 15:1 post insertion)
  2. IV Access / Normal saline TKVO
  3. Adrenaline 1mg IV @ 4/60 (Shockable: after 2nd shock / non-shockable: ASAP)
  4. Flush all meds w/20-30ml Normal saline
  5. ETCO2 & OG tube throguh SGA (where time permits)

MICA: ETT if achievable w/no pause in compressions
- Early ETT if copious vomitus or SGA failure
