Q

What is the boundary model

A

Claims that dieters have a larger range between hunger and satiety levels compared to those who don’t diet.

This is because it takes them longer to feel hungry and takes more food to satisfy them

This is why they are more likely to overeat.

Q

How does the theory of ironic processes of mental control apply to failure to diet

A

When someone suppresses themselves from thinking of crisp or cake or ice cream they keep thinking about it and feel the need to have it as the theory explain. This increases the chance of failing a diet if they’re on one. The food becomes more attractive.

Q

Intro to detail, the key to successful dieting.

Who thought of this idea

A

Redden

That diets fail cz we get bored of them. We just think, oh not another salad. So what we should be doing is to look at the specific details of a meal such as an apple or cucumber or lemon etc. This makes our dieting less boring and we’re less likely to fail
